Jordan comes home

An Overseas Filipino Worker who was jailed in Jordan for alleged theft is finally coming home today through the intercession of Rep. Ignacio "Iggy" Arroyo Jr. (Neg. Occ., 5th district), a press release from the solon's office said.

Stephanie Prado, 27, who is from Barangay Guinpana-an, Moises Padilla town yesterday thanked the solon and the personnel of the Overseas Workers Welfare Office who attended to her. The charges filed against her were not true, she said, the press release added.

It added that Prado said she spent six months with her employer and was jailed for six months on trumped-up charges that she, together with two other OFWs, stole 50 Jordanian Dinar from the son of their employer identified as Madame Louly Muasher.

She was working as a domestic helper to the Muasher family and had worked four years in Dubai before she was deployed to Jordan, she reportedly said.

She decried the prison situation in Jordan and was happy that she was finally set free and coming home to her family. Prado's case was referred by her father to the office of Arroyo who followed it up with OWWA administrator Marianito Roque, the press release said. Prado arrived in the Philippines from Jordan on board Gulf Air, yesterday, the press release added.*
