Hector "Tata" Villanueva was formally proclaimed as the winning candidate, Wednesday,
at the Bais City Session Hall. Thousands of residents witnessed the resumption
of canvassing July 3 and the formal proclamation of the winners two days later.
Villanueva garnered a total votes of 19,988 votes as against his cousin
Francisco Villanueva's 15,303 total votes. Vice mayoralty race, Luciano Benlota
Sr. obtained by 17,916 votes toe win over against Miguel Angelo Teves with 16,224
votes. Among the winning councilors includes Karen Villanueva, Miguel
real, Avelino Macalandong, Crisline repollo, Reynaldo Lasmarias, Bruno Buffard
III, Joseph Arvin Cabio, Teddy Tam, Jeremiah Go, and Wington Chang. In
his message the re-elected chief executive vowed to works towards the development
of Bais City and hoped to accomplish more projects during his term. He said livelihood
programs especially for the fisher folks and farmers is one of his priorities.
The delay in the counting election returns was postponed when Mayoralty
candidate Francisco Villanueva filed a petition against the Bais City Board of
Canvassers, for allegedly using city casual employees as support staff. Earlier,
acting Oriental Negros election supervsior Eddie Aba said that the result from
Bais is very crucial in the race for the 12th Senatoriables race.*MA. back
