The
Provincial Integrated Skills Training Center in Oriental Negros will make a garbage
shredder in support of the agricultural thrust of the government towards organic
farming. PISTC manager Silverio Saceda said the shredder will be made
by PISTC students with the budget from provincial government. Saceda said
the shredder will be the first in the province at an estimated cost of, or about
only P20,000 50 percent cheaper compared to the prevailing market price of P450,000.
The shredder can grind four tons of garbage in a day including woods that
has the size not more than four inches in diameter. The machine will be
distributed to the 34 Barangay Agricultural Develeopment Centers in the province.
But Saceda said he is still awaiting the mandate from newly-installed
Governor Emilio Macias II since the plan was still made during the time of former
governor and now Rep. George Arnaiz. The organic farming system is being
promoted by both the provinces of Negros Oriental and Occidental in line of their
vision to become the organic capital of the country. The PISTC is a skills training
center under the Technical Education Skills Development Authority was created
by the province to provide skills training to students.*MA back
