2 'robbers' collared

Two suspected robbers, one of them a minor, were arrested by the police after they allegedly held up a student at knifepoint in Bacolod City late Thursday, the Philippine National Police said.

Harold Genobata, 27, and his 15-year-old companion were nabbed by Police Station 4 officers led by Police Senior Inspector Luisito Acebuche in a follow-up operation at Grande 4, Brgy. Estefania, following a complaint from Jonalyn Panisales, 15, of Kapa Beta Street, Greenville, Brgy. Estefania, Bacolod City. PO3 Rodel de los Santos said that they arrested the suspects who matched Panisales' descriptions when they robbed her while she was on her way home from school on July 5.

Panisales said Genobata and the minor, whose name is being withheld by the DAILY STAR took her envelope and P300 in cash. She also said the teenager poked a pointed weapon at her and both fled on bicycles after the incident.

Genobata and the minor, however, denied having robbed Panisales and said that they were just roaming around when the police arrested them.*PP

Cops monitoring suspects
who bring shabu to Bacolod

Bacolod City Police Office director, Senior Supt. Ronilo Quebrar, said they are eyeing several personalities who may be bringing shabu into the city from Cebu and Manila as part of its monitoring of persons suspected of supplying illegal drugs in Bacolod City.

He said, however, that they are still verifying tips from informants about the suspected drug suppliers.

Quebrar had earlier tagged Barangays 2 and 8 in Bacolod City as areas of concern because most drug-related cases have happened there, including two recent stake-out operations that led to the arrest of 14 persons allegedly involved in a "pot session."

Yesterday, BCPO Drug Enforcement Agency operatives led by SPO4 Ernesto Gonzales arrested Elizer Diamante, 38, of Purok Datiles, Phase 5, Brgy. Handumanan, Bacolod City in another stake out operation in Purok Datiles at about 10:10 a.m. yesterday, police reports said.

The police confiscated an elongated plastic sachet of suspected shabu from Diamante, the police said. He will face charges for violation of Section 11 of Article 2 of the Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, the police also said.*PP
