Motorist hit by
'Indian pana'

A motorist was hit by a deadly arrow locally known as an "Indian pana" at the national highway in Barangay Sacsac, Bacong, Oriental Negros at 1:10 a.m., Sunday.

Florofil Pahayahay, 23, single, of Barangay Banilad, Dumaguete City was hit on the left thigh.

Bacong police investigation disclosed that, at about 1 a.m., victim was riding at the back of the tricycle with his brother Rodel and sister-in-law Stella Pahayahay.

Upon reaching Barangay Sacsac, they noticed that an unidentified male had transferred the Department of Public Works and Highway signboard to almost the center of the road and the tricycle driver slowed down. All of a sudden Florofil was hit by the "Indian pana" in the left thigh, investigation added.

Rodel brought Florofil to the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital for treatment. The witnesses could not identify the suspects because the place was unlighted.

Meanwhile, at 7 p.m., Saturday, in Siaton, victim Jerusalem Elopre, 37, married, a farmer, residing in Barangay Malabujan, Siaton was bumped by a Honda C70 motorcycle, while he was crossing the road. He sustained serious physical injuries.

Police initial investigation disclosed that the driver, Antonio Alabado, 37, married, farmer, and resident of Sitio Bundo, Barangay Napacao, Siaton was traveling to Siaton proper while the victim believed to be under the influence of liquor, suddenly crossed the road. Both sustained injuries, as well the backrider and they were rushed to the Siaton Hospital.*RG
