Only one out of the seven Regional Mobile Group police officers
who figured in Mabinay shooting tested positive for gunpowder burns
in tests conducted by the Dumaguete Crime Laboratory Tuesday, in
Dumaguete City.
PO1 Mac Arthur Masicampo tested positive for gunpowder nitrates
based on the examination conducted by P/S Insp. Josefina Llena of
the Crime Laboratory in Dumaguete.
The other RMG officers who underwent the test but showed negative
results were RMG commanding officer Insp. Reynaldo Rasca, PO1s Gil
Quilope, Reynante Yap, Nodeilon Dagodoc, Domingo Oplimo and Alexander
Lado, all of the 1st RMG Central Visayas command.
PNP Provincial Director P/S Supt. Melvin Ramon Buenafe said,
the paraffin test is not a conclusive evidence since there are other
factors that may affect the presence of gun powder burns.
He added they are still waiting for the result of the ballistics
examination from the Cebu Crime Laboratory on the service firearms
of the policemen.
The seven policemen were present when victim PO1 Danilo Icot
went wild and fired his M16 rifle at his fellow police officers,
inside the RMG camp in Mabinay on March 4.
Investigations also showed that Icot was irked by the way his
companion, PO1 Lado, answered him, and he attacked the latter with
fist blows. The victim later fell on the ground, with three gunshot
wounds in his chest. Icot also tested positive for gun powder burns.*MA
