Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia said yesterday the 34 Kymco
motorcycles being kept at the storehouse of the Bacolod City College
will be distributed at the right time.
He said the motorcycles were donated by Bacolod's sister city,
Keelung in Taiwan, and still have to be checked if they are in good
working condition.
The mayor said they will be turned over to various offices
of the city government in the presence of the Taiwanese ambassador.
There are no specific beneficiaries as of now, he said, but
he has already made inquiries as to which offices need motorcycles.
Leonardia said there is nothing wrong about keeping the motorcycles
in storage for now, contrary to the claims of his critics, that
these are being kept for a different purpose.
"I don't think it's an issue, but maybe it is to those who
put malice in it," the mayor said. "As the saying goes," he added,
"Thinkers are doers."
NEW PIO HEAD
Meanwhile, Leonardia said he has appointed Ramon Lozana as the
new head of the Public Information Office. Lozana replaced Elsie
Jolingan who is now assigned to the City Tourism Office to concentrate
more on the tourism thrusts of the city, he said.*NLG
