Negros Occidental Gov. Joseph Maraņon has created a Provincial
Water and Sanitation Development Council to ensure a well coordinated
and systematic planning of water supply and sanitation program in
the province, Acting Gov. Isidro Zayco said yesterday.
Managers of all water districts in the province have been invited
to a meeting to come up with action plans for towns and cities,
Zayco said.
He said measures have to be put in place to prevent the intrusion
of bacteria into the drinking water of Negrenses.
The council's aim is to create a Five-Year Provincial Water Supply,
Sanitation and Sewerage Sector Plan, and coordinate all water and
sanitation related activities down to the barangay level, Zayco
said.*
