Dumaguete terminal to open June

The P20-million Dumaguete Integrated Bus Terminal in Barangay Calindagan will be inaugurated in June, Edward Du, president of the Negros Oriental Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said.

He said the construction of the first sophisticated bus terminal in Negros Oriental is one of the undertakings of the Dumaguete City government, through a public-private partnership agreement with the Robinsons Land Corporation that was signed September 22, 2011.

Du said the NOCCI supported the project to decongest traffic in major thoroughfares in Dumaguete City, and that one reason for the congestion is the haphazard loading and unloading of passengers.

The bus terminal is equipped with amenities that will provide comfort to the passengers, he added.*MA
