Earth Hour
Earth Hour becomes unstoppable worldwide as millions of people feel the passion to save our planet.
The global community came out in force as social media played an inspiring role to communities across the Middle East, Europe, Asia and other parts of the globe, to unite for a common cause, which is the protection of our planet.
In Bacolod, residents and establishments joined the Earth Hour. A symbolic ceremony was held Saturday at SM City Bacolod grounds, that was attended by a lot of mall-goers and civic groups.
Heading the switch-off ceremony was Bacolod City Mayor Evelio “Bing” Leonardia, together with Vice Mayor Thaddy Sayson and councilors Em Ang, Sonya Verdeflor and Archie Baribar, among others. Representing SM City Bacolod was mall manager George Jardiolin, Nep Grandea and Floressa May Castro.
Earth Hour is a worldwide event organized by the World Wide Fund for Nature and held every last Saturday of March. The event aims to encourage households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights for one hour to raise awareness of the need to take action against climate change.* |
