Negros runners to join
Mambukal Team Relay

Long distance runners from different towns and cities in Negros Occidental are expected to join in the 2012 Mambukal Team Relay set on April 9 from Mambukal Resort in Murcia to Panaad Park and Sports Stadium in Brgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod City.

Organizers said eight teams have already confirmed their entries in the Under-19 category, and another eight entries in the open division.

Early registrants for the Under-19 group include teams from the town of Calatrava, and cities of Escalante, Victorias and La Carlota. The local government units of Manapla, Bago and Bacolod cities, also indicated their intent to join the race, organizers said.

The Mambukal Team Relay kicks off from the entrance of the Tourist Lodge in Mambukal Resort at 6 p.m. and runners will cover an approximate distance of 27 kilometers with nine laps with designated take-over zones.

Each team is composed of four male and five females as regular members plus two alternates.

The first lap (2.9K) will end in front of the signboard in Purok 1, Brgy. Minoyan; second lap (3.7K) at Hda. Lizares Housing; third lap (2.9K) in front of Brgy. Lopez Jaena Barangay Hall, and fourth lap (3.1K) in front of Rita Store.

Fift lap (2.9K) ends in front of Murcia Town Hall, while sixth (2.3K) will finish in front of Cabunga-an elementary School. Seventh lap (3K) will have the finish line at Crossing Guanzon Coliseum in Brgy. Mansilingan, eighth lap (3.1K) at Crossing Grandville, and the final lap at the Panaad Stadium covering a distance of about 3.1K.

Other road races during the Panaad Festival include the 3K run for boys and girls’ 14-Under, men and women’s 50-Up, and 5K Open category for boys and girls on April 12, starting at 6am.*NAB
