More trees cut
BY CARLA GOMEZ

Illegal cutting of trees has been reported in Barangay Bi-ao, Binalbagan, and Carabalan, Himamaylan, Jose Maria Valencia, chief of staff of Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr., said yesterday.

Task Force Ilahas has been asked to investigate the reports, he said.

Drastic measures have to be taken to stop the illegal cutting of trees, he said, noting that flooding and disasters have occurred because forests are being denuded.

“We are urging Task Force Ilahas to be proactive in efforts to protect the province from those engaged in the illegal cutting of trees,” Valencia said.*CPG
