IN BINDOY TOWN
P6M farm-to-market
roads inaugurated

BY MARICAR ARANAS

The province of Negros Oriental has completed the “Kilos Asenso” program of the Department of Agriculture, aimed at improving the sector through infrastructure development on a counter-parting scheme.

Gov. Roel Degamo and Bindoy town Mayor Valente Yap recently led the inauguration of the 200-meter newly-concreted farm-to-market road in Sitio Bayog, Barangay Cabcaban; and another 200 meters in Sitio Pangsalayan, Barangay Nalundan, through the program.

Degamo said P2 million was allotted by the province, while the DA provided P4 million to implement the program, with focus on the opening and development of FMRs, to provide farmers access for their products.

He also said he believe that the upgrading or opening of roads will encourage the farmers to also improve their produce or plant high-value agricultural crops.

Yap, meanwhile, said that the road development will contribute to the economic growth of the farmers.*MA
