PASQUIN SAYS
Reflect in silence
BY LISA GAPAC

Parishioners should spend Holy Week reflecting in silence, reading the Bible, and actively participating in all liturgical services for the nourishment of the Christian life, Fr. Felix Pasquin, San Sebastian Cathedral rector, said yesterday.

“Let us heed the message of Bishop Vicente Navarra to look into the kind of relationship we have with God our Father, with our fellowmen, and to ourselves, and to live simply and soberly,” Pasquin said.

The church is concerned with the issues of skyrocketing of oil prices and basic commodities, poverty, hunger, and war because these are issues that mainly affect the poor for whom it has a special predilection, he said.

“We see in these issues the continuing suffering of the Lord in our people but then we do not lose hope because Christ already conquered sin, death, and the social effects of sin,” he also said.

“These are all trials to all of us how far we remain faithful to God and this is also a challenge for us to carry our cross and be like Jesus Christ involved in the redemption of our society,” Pasquin added.

He also said he hopes that after the Easter, people have a change of life for the better, to be more intimate with the Lord, and to be closer to one another in love and in solidarity.

“Let us not waste the grace of Easter by going back to our former life. Let us make the fruit of Easter truly an instrument for our being close to God and one another in the spirit of love and solidarity,” Pasquin added. *LTG
