A night of tribute and
performances

LA VIDA NEGRENSE

It was a night of songs and dances when the seniors batch 2011-2012 of St. Scholastica’s Academy in Bacolod City recently held its annual tribute to parents and teachers, called “This One’s for You: A Night of Long Overdue Thanks.”

Andrea Escamilla led the opening prayer in keeping with the Benedictine tradition, followed by the welcome remarks of Year 4 governor, Nicole Ann Bito-on, that opened the night of performances, by thanking their parents and teachers for guiding them through four years of school.

Bito-on’s speech centered on John F. Kennedy’s statement: “As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them."

Kicking offthe event was a medley of the cheer dance presentation of the batch to symbolize their four years of high school. The batch took pride in the shining moment of the Choong sisters in the Jai Ho of second year, where they were the youngest batch to become cheer dance champions.

The tribute is an annual seniors’ tradition at the school, giving students the chance to thank the people who made their high school life memorable.

The night also featured a medley of the greatest hits of all time, old music versus modern music, a Britney Spears dance number, a special song number by Chanel Morales and her group, a video presentation, a Crazy Right Now dance number, pop dance, ABBA musicale, belly dancing, ballet solo song presentations, pop medley, and, to cap the night, the batch song.

To the seniors of SSA 2011-2012, congratulations for a job well done!*
