The 19th Panaad Trade Fair and Exhibit kicks off today at the Panaad Park and Stadium, Bacolod City, where local government units vie for the top grosser of the year, best products, and other special awards, Gerard Tupas, TLDC project development officer III, said yesterday.
Tupas said LGUs will compete for Panaad Best Product and entries may come from home and furnishings, home accessories, and personal accessories and for specialty food products, they will compete for Best Market Potential, Best Innovative Product, and Best New Product.
TLDC will also give special awards, the Design Excellence Award that will be given to local designer or artist of the top best product for the personal, home accessories, and home furnishing categories and the Sabor Negrense Award for the food producers for the special food products category, he said.

The presidents of the three public markets and the Manokan Country in Bacolod City are appealing to the Sangguniang Panlungsod to pass immediately the ordinance condoning the surcharges, interests, penalties and arrearages on the rental obligations of stall, table and block occupants of the markets.
The proposed ordinance is authored by Councilor Caesar Distrito and co-authored by Councilors Em Ang, El Cid Familiaran, Al Victor Espino, Roberto Rojas, Dindo Ramos, Mona Dia Jardin and Carlos Jose Lopez.
In their letter to Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson and the SP dated March 20, 2012, the presidents of the Central, Libertad and Burgos Market Vendors Associations and the Manokan Country Vendors Association, said the ordinance will help market vendors to pay their rental arrears and dues to the city government.
