Theological librarians
convene in Silliman

Sixty theological librarians and experts from 11 countries are attending the 6th Forum for Asian Theological Librarians workshop and consultation, that started yesterday and will end April 14, at the Divinity School of Silliman University, a press release from the school said.

The workshop, funded by Christian organizations, brings together theological librarians or those assigned in seminaries, as well as resource persons from Indonesia, Thailand, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Taiwan, Malaysia, Philippines, Argentina, Switzerland and France. It aims to enhance the capabilities of those assigned to handle books and similar resources, in theological education, the press release added.

It includes presentations and small group discussions on common issues that confront theological librarians in the areas of collection, resource management and promotion, the use of digital tools, and on resource-sharing and collaboration.

Dr. Mariel Deluca Voth, chair of the International Collaboration Committee of the American Theological Library Association, will talk on “Asian Theological Librarians Moving Forward Towards Global Partnership and Collaboration”, the press release said.

Dr. Christoph Stuckelberger, founder and executive director of Globethics.net, a global network of persons and institutions interested in various fields of applied ethics, meanwhile, will present the “Global Digital Library on Theological and Ecumenism”, the press release added.*
