AFP chief STAR speaker

The Philippine Bureau Chief and Asia Environment editor of Agence France Presse will be the guest of honor and speaker of the Visayan DAILY STAR at its 30th anniversary celebration tomorrow to be held at the Planta Centro Hotel in Bacolod City.

Karl Malakunas, who has covered events and conflicts in several countries in Asia, the Middle East and Australia, was named to the Philippine bureau of Agence France Presse in September 2009. He joined AFP in 2001 and presently oversees the agency’s environment coverage of Asia.

He has also been assigned to China and Mongolia, Singapore, Hong Kong and Bangkok. As well as North and South Korea, Pakistan and Japan.

The DAILY STAR has been a long time subscriber to AFP that supplies it with both local and international reports.*
