Union, hospital finally agree
on collective bargaining deal

The Bacolod Our Lady of Mercy Specialty Hospital and its employees union yesterday signed a five-year collective bargaining agreement and approved the P10 daily wage increase, for the workers for three years, Roberto Villaram, employees’ union president, said.

The issue on the CBA stemmed from the hospital management’s refusal to counter the employees’ CBA proposal last year which resulted in the filing of a notice of strike by the union before the National Conciliation and Mediation Board in Bacolod City.

BOLMSH legal counsel Elnora Abaygar said both parties have come up with a fair and favorable CBA and the demands of the union were granted and approved by the hospital president Dr. Evangeline Johnson.

Jollibee launches
‘new’ La Salle outlet

The number of fast food chains in Bacolod City is an indicator of the city’s fast economic growth, Mayor Evelio Leonardia said yesterday during the blessing of the newly-renovated Jollibee – La Salle store.

Citing the move of the franchisee, the Ponce family of Bacolod City, to expand the store and provide more amenities for their customers, Leonardia said this validates the city’s status as one of the top 10 growth centers in the country.

Constructed in 1994 as the second Jollibee store in Bacolod, the newly-renovated La Salle branch is the biggest in the Visayas-Mindanao region, Beng Huyong, Jollibee Foods Corp. Vice President for Visayas-Mindanao area said.
