SSA parents got talent, too

ivy
Excitement filled the air as St Scholastica’s Academy-Bacolod celebrated its Family Day, sponsored by its Parents-Teachers Association. The theme of this year’s celebration was “SSA Parents Got Talent, Too”. This was participated in by parents from the grade and year levels.

The idea was born from the desire of the officers of the SSA-B PTA to have a fun-filled activity, where more parents could participate and get involved. Knowing that SSA-B students are multi-talented, they came up with the idea that a lot of parents might be talented as well.

The program concept excited the parents, teachers and students, and of course, the Benedictine, sisters who surprised everyone with a fantastic finale dance number.

Hosting the show were media couple Anthony and Jonali Visitacion, together with their Grade 2 son, Anjo. The audience was amazed by the very talented competition of group dances, songs, interpretative dancing and other combinations. Kids beamed with pride and cheered as they watched their parents perform with gusto at top performance level. The graduating senior class even gave a surprise number with all 140 plus students playing the guitar, singing a song of gratitude, “If it Weren’t For You”, to their parents and teachers. It left the crowd teary-eyed, knowing they will soon bid goodbye to their beloved alma mater.

Judges for the talent competition were ABS-CBN’s Carmela Gamboa, choreographer/artist Fautino Macaya and entrepreneur/artist Doreen de Asis-Dofitas.

First prize winners – Grade 2 parents, 2nd prize- Grade 6 parents and 3rd prize-Grade 4 parents. Everyone went home tired but happy after showing that parents got talent, too!
