Two suspects in the killing of a farm worker in Brgy. Capitan Ramon, Silay City, Negros Occidental, gave themselves up to a barangay official on April 10 , who endorsed them to the police.
The two were identified as David Cristopher Jimenez and JR Barrientos, both 20, while their companion identified as Noel Despi, however, remains at-large, police records show.
Supt. Rosauro Francisco, Silay police chief, said Jimenez and Barrientos surrendered to Capitan Ramon Brgy. Capt. Ramon Celebre for their involvement in the killing of Celso Maghari, alias Wilson, in the place on April 7.
Investigations by the police showed that Maghari challenged and tried to hack the suspects with a cane cutter after a drinking spree at the house of a certain Romy Gallego in Hacienda Dorotea, Brgy. Capitan Ramon, Silay City.
Gallego said the victim and the three suspects were on their way home when he had heard a gunshot. Gallego said he only knew the next day that Maghari was already dead.
Francisco said that another witness identified as Helen Geguinto was told by a certain Al Al Barrientos that his brother and his companion were responsible for the killing of Maghari.
Drunkeness and misunderstanding reportedly triggered the killing of Maghari, investigations of the Silay police also showed.*GPB back
