Cadiz, Himamaylan win
Panaad folk dance tilt

Himamaylan City was the champion in the Panaad sa Negros folk dance competition, rural category, with its performance of “Lapay Bantigue”, with Cadiz City in the Ma. Clara category, with its winning piece “Escopiton Malandog”, Thursday night at the Panaad Stadium, Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City, a press release from the Capitol said.

Other winners in the rural category were Pontevedra town, second place, and Bacolod City, third; while in the Ma. Clara category, Binalbagan town placed second, followed by the city of Silay, the press release added.

Winners in the rural category received P20,000, P15,000, and P10,000 as first, second, third prize, respectively, while in the other category, P25,000, P20,000, and P15,000, were received by the first, second, and third placers.

Himamaylan and Cadiz also bagged the best in costume and best in staging awards, in the rural and Ma. Clara categories, respectively. Adjudged as best trainers were Alberto Roy David of Himamaylan, and Randyll Villones, of Cadiz, the press release said.

The judges were Dolores Suzara, Antonio Li, Erly Martir, Mila Janson and Edwin Masangcay. Ma. Lina Sanogal, Panaad sa Negros Festival 2012 executive director and action officer, presented the awards to the winners, the press release added.*

GMA 7 holding ‘Kaching' promo

The GMA-7 Network is holding a promotional campaign called “Kaching Kaching Kapuso”, a press release from the station said.

To join, viewers must watch out for the Kaching Kaching coins and write down on a piece of paper the airing date and title of the show where they saw the coins, along with their name, address, age, contact number and signature, and submit it, together with a proof of purchase, in a sealed legal-size envelope, the press release added.

At the back of the envelope, a participant must write the promo title, brand of enclosed POP, date, and area where the participant lives. There will be three daily winners of P5,000 in the National Capital Region, Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao; and one weekly winner of P20,000. The names of the winners will be announced on air weekly, and they will be notified via registered mail, the press release said.

French volunteers to conduct
summer classes for hda. Kids

Three French nationals, who are volunteers of the Association of Soeur Emmanuel Foundation in France, will conduct summer classes for children in seven haciendas in E.B. Magalona town, Negros Occidental, starting next week, a press release from organizers said.

Emmanuelle Limousin, Arnaud Chartier and Laetetia Real-Moretto, who arrived in town yesterday, will immerse with hacienda people during their two-week stay in E.B. Magalona.

The areas they will include haciendas Cudangdang #1 and #4 in Brgy. Cudangdang; Lumbia, Teresa and Lanog-Lanog in Brgy. Alicante; Basag in Brgy. Sto. Nino; and Baga-as in Brgy. Tabigue, the press release added.

The summer classes for hacienda children program, a joint undertaking of the ASMAE and the Silay–Magalona Foundation, have been going on since 1996.

Real-Moretto said they are also interested in discovering the tourism potentials of E.B. Magalona, and the rest of Negros Occidental, the press release added.*
