Severino draws with GM Short
Negrense Fide Master Sander Severino from Silay City drew with Grand Master Nigel Short in the third round of the Bangkok Invitational Chess Open, team manager Marvin Ting said.
In an email sent to the local media, Ting informed that Severino now has a total of 2.5 points after winning his two assignments against Xu Fei of China in rounde one and against Jon Eriksson in round two.
A drew with Short is an accomplishment for Severino, noting that the English chess wizard was a former World Championship challenger to Grandmaster Gary Kasparov.
| 10 teams set to join Ten teams see action when the 2012 Batang PBA Negros Occidental leg opens on May 5 at the West Negros University Gym in Bacolod City, a press release from organizers said. The tournament sanctioned by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas ends May 15 with the winner advancing to the regional finals on May 19-20, also at the WNU Gym. The participating teams will be divided into two brackets and will play in single round-robin with the top two teams in each group clashing in crossover semifinals. |
