A night with the stars

Philippine celebrities Derek Ramsey, Jason Abalos, Aaron Villaflor, Young JV, Jose Sarasola, Marco Alcaraz, Joross Gamboa, Luis Alandy and John Hall, starred in an exhibition basketball match in Bacolod City recently. Thes team of showbiz personalities donned the Universal Harverster Inc color against the Colegio de San Agustin College of Nursing.

The event began with UHI vice president Milagros How, leading the ceremonial jump ball. Adding spice were former Wowowee dancers Luningning and Saicy Aguila, who ignited the court at the half time break with their dance numbers!

After the game, the celebrities were treated to a sumptuous dinner at the residence of Enrique Rojas, president of the National Federation of Sugarcane Planters. It was a starry night with some of the finest wines being served to the guests at the sprawling garden and poolside.*

Peacebuilding training
to start today at USLS

The 4th Visayas Peacebuilding Training will be held at the Balay Kalinungan of the University of St. La Salle starting today until April 22, a USLS press release said.

This year’s specialization courses, after the Foundation Course on Creative Conflict Transformation are Arts for Peace by Dessa Quesada, Resource Conflict and Sustainable Development by Lodel Magbanua, Transformative Madiation by Ed Jalbuena and Creative Conflict Transformation by Jo and Cesar Villanueva

The theme this year is “Building Reconciling Communities in the Visayas”.

VPT 2012 aims to provide the foundational thinking and tools in Conflict Transformation and Peacebuilding necessary in envisioning and in building an equitable and sustainable peace in communities and institutions in the Visayas and beyond, the press release said.

The training is being organized by Pax Christi Institute – Pax Christi Pilipinas in partnership with the Institute for Negros Development - University of St. La Salle.

Meanwhile USLS continues to provide educational opportunities as new academic programs are to be offered effective AY 2012-13, the university press release said.

The new course offerings are bachelor degrees in Food Technology, Electrical Engineering and Elementary Education Major in Early Childhood Education.

Graduates of BS Food Technology may pursue careers in food manufacturing and engineering industries, food service establishments and academic institutions.

Career opportunities available for graduates with a degree in BS Electrical Engineering include being a power engineer, design engineer, process control designer, an illumination engineer and an entrepreneur, the press release said.

A graduate with a degree in Bachelor of Elementary Education Major in Early Childhood education may land jobs as an early childhood teacher, a supplemental learning instructor, an instructional materials developer, or a school department head.

BCCCI marks
3rd founding anniversary

The Bacolod Cosmopolitan Christian Church Inc at the Circumferential Road in Bacolod City kicks off its week-long celebration of its third founding anniversary today with the theme “Celebration in the Kingdom.”

The celebration will start with a motorcade at the Bacolod Government Center at 3 p.m. today, to be followed at 6 p.m. by a Baptist Men and Women Talent Night at 6 p.m. at the BCCCI, Pastor Salvador Parpa said yesterday.

The Kabalaka Student Center Program Talent Showcase will be held 6 p.m. tomorrow, a Prayer Festival at 6 p.m. Wednesday, and the Cosmopolitan Christian School Night at 6 p.m. Thursday.

A Youth and Children Night will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, and a Prophecy Conference with lawyer Lyndon Caña will be conducted from m 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday also at the BCCCI.

A “Pasalamat” Musical Concert being held as a tribute to Lily Cabahug, the church musical director, will alsol be staged at the BCCCI at 6 p.m. Sunday, Parpa added.*CPG
