Farmer shot dead

Police are investigating the motive and identity of the suspect in the fatal shooting of a farmer in Barangay Hinakpan, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental on Sunday.

The fatality was identified as Crispulo Eleno Sarillo Jr., 52, of Sitio Bonbon in Hinakpan.

Initial investigation showed that Sarillo was with Richard Montecino Infante, 33, of Moises Padilla in Negros Occidental, at around 2:55 p.m. Sunday when a gunshot was heard.

Infante told the police that he then saw Sarillo slumped to the ground.

Meanwhile, the police are hunting the younger brother of a man who was fatally stabbed in Barangay Kalomboyan, Bayawan City, Negros Oriental, Sunday.

Renzie Nermal, 32, single, died of a stab wound in his chest, after he was attacked in his home by his brother, Ruben, 26, of Sitio Bukaw, Kalomboyan, for no apparent reason, the police said.

The older Nermal died on the spot while the suspect fled after the incident, police records showed.*JFP
