NPA owns up to killing The Leonardo Panaligan Command of the New People's Army yesterday claimed responsibility for the death of a member of the Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit in Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental, whom they had linked to the killing of an activist and the molestation of a minor. Ka JB Regalado, spokesperson of the Leonardo Panaligan Command, claimed in a statement they issued, that CAFGU member Danny Quilanan was linked to the killing of Dodong Quirante, a member of Karapatan-Negros and leader of a farmer's group in Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental, and the alleged molestation of a minor in Moises Padilla. Quilanan, who also works as a part-time “habal-habal” driver, aside from rendering duties as a CAFGU member assigned at the Montilla detachment, was gunned down by about five suspected rebel assassins on April 10 in Sitio Tubod, Brgy.
