Love triangle eyed in death
of anti-crime member: PNP

A love triangle is being eyed as motive for the fatal shooting of a member of the Negros Occidental Anti-Crime Group, at about 11:20 p.m. Saturday at the Reclamation Area in Bacolod City, Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz, Bacolod City police director, said yesterday.

Noli Carcueva, 50, of City Heights Subdivision in Brgy. Taculing, Bacolod, sustained a through-and-through gunshot wound in the head, two in his abdomen and two other in his back, and died while being treated at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, at about 1 a.m. Sunday.

De la Paz said Carcueva's girlfriend, Joy Tahum, told the police that the victim had received text messages from his second wife, Cecil Tahum, that they will meet at Lopue's East on Saturday, but the venue was changed later.

That same day, Carcueva sent Joy home before meeting Cecil, and allegedly told his girlfriend that if something happens to him, she should look for Cecil as there is no other person capable of doing bad things to him, de la Paz said.

In an interview over Aksyon Radyo Bacolod, Cecil denied any involvement in the killing of Carcueva, she said she and the victim had been separated since December, and had not communicated with each other.

She also said she will cooperate with the police in their investigation.

De la Paz, meanwhile, said Joy's statement can be a big help in resolving the case, and added that they will invite Cecil for questioning. He also said the two women are not related.*LTG

Brgy. health center robbed;
mall guards apprehend ‘thief'

Unidentified robbers broke into a barangay health center in Bacolod City and took medical equipment and cash donations amounting to P24,000, police reports said yesterday.

Rowest Sales, 37, a midwife of the Brgy. 12 Health Center, said she discovered that the medical equipment and cash donations were gone, at about 9 a.m. yesterday.

She also said the suspects gained entry by destroying the locking frame of the window.

Station 1 policemen are investigating the incident.

Meanwhile, a suspected robber was arrested by security guards of a mall, Monday afternoon.

The suspect, identified as Rain John Villa, 26, of Purok Kingfisher, Brgy. 16, Bacolod City, was nabbed at about 2:40 p.m. at 888 Chinatown Square, after he and an unidentified companion, held up a cellphone electronic store inside the mall.

Salesgirls Irlynn May Cacanog, 23, and Ivy Jane Dacuma, 19, both of Brgy. 9, told the police they were threatened and forced to give two cell phones and a retailer SIM card, amounting to P7,428, to the suspects.

The suspects were intercepted by security guards Jerald Magdasal, Rodrigo Pios, and John Rey Jaroc, who recovered the stolen items from Villa. His companion evaded arrest.*LTG
