The Bacolod City Police Office raised its alert level status after receiving reports on the alleged sightings of the Parohinog robbery group in Bacolod City , Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz, city police director said yesterday.
De la Paz said their intelligence report shows that the group had planned to rob a business establishment in Bacolod but it did not push through because of the presence of policemen.
The same group is reportedly behind the P3.6 million robbery at the Central Negros Electric Cooperative last month.
De la Paz said they have informed the Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the banks, and other commercial and business establishments about this so they will increase their preventive measures.
He said their follow-up operations was continuing even before the sightings were reported. He added that they been coordinating with e other law enforcement agencies to preempt any action of the robbery group.
De la Paz also said the group must have a local contact and that helps them in their operation in Bacolod. The reported sighting also means that there are other “big targets”, not only in Bacolod but in Negros Occidental, like the planters, the banks, and the businessmen, he said.
De la Paz added that the Parohinog robbery group specializes in bank robberies, kidnapping for ransom, and are even involved in gun-for-hire operations. *LTG
