Politicians warned: Don't use
KALAHI in election campaign
BY MARICAR ARANAS

Director Ma. Evelyn Macapobre of the Department of Social Welfare and Development 7 warned political leaders, who are recipients of the KALAHI-CIDSS program, not to take advantage of it and use it for their personal and political agenda.

She said the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan–Comprehensive Integrated Delivery of Social Service and the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program are exempted from the election ban, making them more attractive to enterprising politicians who may use the programs for their own interests.

The May 2013 midterm elections are fast approaching and any politician can take advantage of the two programs, Macapobre added.

She also said the DSWD can ask for an investigation from the Department of Interior and Local Government on politicians who take advantage of the KALAHI-CIDSS and 4Ps programs.

Macapobre also encouraged the public to be vigilant and make sure that the programs are not used for political campaigns.

Macapobre was in Negros Oriental yesterday for the signing of the memorandum of agreement on the KALAHI-CIDSS program that is implemented through the DSWD and the Millennium Development Corporation.

In Negros Oriental, 11 towns are recipients of the program, and were identified through the high incidence of poverty in them.

Five LGUs are from the 1st Congressional District: Ayungon, Bindoy, Jimalalud, Manjuyod and Vallehermoso; Mabinay and Pamplona from the 2nd District; and Basay, Dauin, Santa Catalina and Zamboanguita in the 3 rd District.*MA
