Battered wife kills
hubby, police says
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

The alleged physical abuse of a 35-year-old battered wife ended Sunday, when she allegedly stabbed dead her husband, who had beaten her again at their residence in Sitio Bunga, Brgy. Orong, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.

The victim, identified as Arnel Resta, 39, was declared dead on arrival at the Lorenzo Zayco District Hospital in Kabankalan. He succumbed to a stab wound in the breast, police investigations show.

Supt. Calixto Mabugat, Kabankalan police chief, yesterday said the victim, who was under the influence of alcoholic liquor, beat his wife, Judelyn, 35, who lost consciousness.

When she regained consciousness, she was again manhandled by her husband, and this led to the stabbing, investigations by the Kabankalan police showed.

Judelyn immediately gave herself up to Orong barangay kagawad Ryan Palma, who endorsed her to the Kabankalan City Police Station, where she is now detained.

Mabugat said Judelyn may be freed from jail if there are no charges filed against her, after the reglamentary period of detention lapses. *GPB
