NVC turns over 32 classrooms

Thirty-two of the 64 classrooms for Negros Occidental from Senator Sergio Osmeña III's Priority Development Assistance Fund are now being turned over to their school officials by the Negrense Volunteers for Change Foundation Inc., NVC president, Millie Kilayko, said yesterday.

The latest classrooms to be turned over by NVC, which has been appointed as Osmena's conduit in Negros, were at the Murcia Elementary school yesterday that were immediately used by the children in Summer Kinder Classes.

The second set of 32 classrooms are expected to be ready before classes open in June, Kilayko said.

The P22.4 million fund that was coursed through the provincial government of Negros Occidental, was turned over by Gov. Alfredo Marañon to Kilayko in January for the construction of a unit consisting of two classrooms and a toilet in every city and municipality of Negros Occidental.

The colors of the building were identified through a workshop which involved the children themselves, Kilayko said.*
