Provincial Elections Supervisor Jessie Suarez said that some of the Commission on Elections paraphernalia for the June 2 special election for congressman of the fifth district of Negros Occidental arrived in Bacolod yesterday.
The election period for the special polls starts today with a ban on the carrying of firearms and other deadly weapons in place until June 17.
During the election period in the fifth district, it is also prohibited to transfer officers and employees in the public service, including public school teachers, or to suspend elective officials.
The filing of certificates of candidacy for congressman of the fifth district is set May 14 to 16, and the campaign period is from May 17 to 31.
Suarez said the COMELEC paraphernalia that arrived yesterday were the certified list of voters for the fifth district, the appointment of the Board of Election Inspectors, watchers identification cards, and COMELEC passes.*CPG
