Capitol to hire more docs
BY MARICAR ARANAS

The provincial government of Negros Oriental will hire additional doctors, who will be assigned to the district hospitals and six community primary hospitals in the province.

Gov. Roel Degamo said there is a need to increase the number of doctors to attend to patients, especially those coming from far-flung sitios and barangays. He added that he is waiting for the approval of the budget, that will be the basis to determine how many will be hired.

The strengthening and efficient delivery of health services to Negrenses is a priority program of the province, Degamo, said, and that by improving the services of the district and community hospitals, the influx of patients to the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital will be minimized.

Dr. Felix Sy, NOPH chief, said majority of the patients admitted were suffering minor health problems that can be treated at the district hospital.*MA
