Silay City launches
summer sports event

Silay City is launching “Dagyang Bakasyon sa Isports 2012”, a multi-discipline summer workshop for young Silaynons, a press release from the city said.

The workshop aimed to promote sports tourism in Silay, and includes a beginner’s course in swimming, volleyball, table tennis, badminton and karate for different age-groups.

The office of Silay City Sports Committee officer Hector Gamboa, is I charge of the program, the press release said.

The swimming lessons started yesterday with coaches Manuel Almirante, Joelin Patris and Ronald Santander supervising the acitivity for girls and boys ageing 12 years old and under.

Meanwhile, Silay Sports Committee Assistant Glen Dacula said the city’s Interbarangay Sportsfest 2012 will open tomorrow at the Natalio Velez Sports and Cultural Center at 1 pm.

Mayor Jose Montelibano and Vice-Mayor Mark Golez will lead the ceremonial toss.*
