bury Alejandrino

BY ADRIAN NEMES III

Family, friends and colleagues bade farewell to the late Bacolod Sangguniang Panglungsod Secretary Nilo Alejandrino at his final resting place at the Bacolod Memorial Park yesterday.

The late SP Secretary had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and died at the Bacolod Adventist Hospital Saturday.

At a necrological service held at the chapel of the BMP, his daughter Aloy Alejandrino recalled the fun memories she and her sisters had with their father.

She described their father as their protector, who loved them unconditionally and someone who does not say much but shows his love and affection. She said her father stood by her even in the lowest point of her life, and even if others were judging her.

Jose Totengco, Alejandrino’s elder brother, said he regretted not being able to spend much time with him because he left when he was 27 to work in the United States.

Alejandrino’s mother, Soledad, now based in the U.S in her letter read by his elder sister, Marlu Javier, said that she will pray that her son will find eternal peace and also assured him that their family will take care of his four children.

Alejandrino’s close friend and counsel, Lorenzo Alminaza, said the cases filed by the late SP Secretary seeking the reversal of his suspension and dismissal from the service will go on even if he is already dead, because, more than the monetary reasons, his family wants to vindicate him.

Alminaza said the Civil Service Commission has ordered Bacolod Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson and the members of the city council to forward all the documents on the cases filed against Alejandrino.

Alejandrino was dismissed from the service after Councilor Caesar Distrito filed complaints against him for alleged grave misconduct, conduct unbecoming, gross insubordination, unprofessional conduct, and grave abuse of authority before the Office of the Vice Mayor in relation to a chair-throwing incident at the SP Secretary's Office last year.*APN
