WITH LACIERDA VISIT
Dacongcogon
hopeful of progress

The request for government assistance of the Dacongcogon Farmers Cooperative in the re-opening of the Dacongcogon Sugar Mill was presented by Rolando Parpa, Chairman of the Cooperative to Secretary Edwin Lacierda who arrived for a dialog with the local media recently, a press release from the group said.

The papers include the Dacongcogon Manifesto signed by the Board of Directors and officers of the Cooperative raising issues and citing the deteriorating socio-economic condition in Dacongcogon.

In various letters to the Office of the President and Executive Secretary Ochoa, the cooperative had presented legal basis and the scheme for implementing the assistance to fast-track the operation of the mill, the press release said.

Lacierda and his team, said their coming to Negros was purposely to listen to the concerns of the people.

The Dacongcogon farmers are expectant that through Lacierda, their long pending request at the Office of the President will be acted upon, the press release said.*
