Jast streaks past JSY, 84-71

Jast Enterprises thumped an undermanned JSY Transport, 84-71, while Organic Solutions clawed back from a double digit deficit to upstage Basecom, 72-68, in Class B of the 2012 Fil-Sino All Asian Countertrade Inc. 1st Conference Inter-Color Basketball Tournament at Bacolod Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym.

Playing with only six players, JSY Transport managed to keep up with Jast in the first quarter, with the score tied at 22-all, but a third quarter explosion from Jast prevented JSY Transport from snatching the win.

Jast twin towers, Brian Javelosa and Ralph Ong, spelled the difference in the second quarter as they delivered 9 and 6 points, respectively, to allow Jast a 47-33 lead at halftime.

Jeremy Coo and Tubby Villanueva combined for 11 points in the first quarter for the Transport guys, but Jast countered with Jan Jan Young's seven points and Eduardo Ng's six-point output to extend the lead to 22 points before settling for a 66-50 third quarter lead.

JSY outscored Jast in the fourth quarter but it was not enough to reverse the outcome of the game as Jast's frontline took care of the rebounds and Mahinay scored 14 points to seal their victory.

Mahinay finished with 26 points, Brian Javelosa ended with 12, Young shot 11, Ong with 9, Kieron Tan added 8 points and Ng 6 points for Jast.

Coo paced JSY with 23 points, Siopao Dichavez added 14, Tubby Villanueva 11, Stephen Tan 10 points, Andre Tan had 8, and Celhelm Uy with 5 points.

In the second game, Basecom's 44 -32 halftime lead was erased in the third quarter as the Errol Su hit four triples and Simon Tan chipped in six points to allow Organic a 55-51 lead going into the final minutes of the game.

Basecom tried to counter with four treys as RJ Iligan came out with eight points, but Su teamed up with Brian Ong for an identical 6-point output in the payoff period to ice the game.

Su led Organic with 18 points, Simon Tan scored 16 pts, Ong had 13 points, Chingsan Su made 10, and Alex Chua delivered 7 points.

Iligan paced Basecom with 18 points in a losing effort, Coo added 16, Coruña had 11, and Edward Uy with 8 points.*NAB
