Vice President Jejomar Binay and Philippine National Red Cross Governor Juan Miguel Zubiri will attend this year's Ugyonan Festival in E.B. Magalona town, Negros Occidental, on April 28 to May 1.

Mayor David Albert Lacson said Binay will be the guest of honor during the fiesta highlight on May 1.

“He will be with us on the night of May 1 to witness our celebrity concert and grand fireworks display,” Lacson said.

Zubiri will be arriving on the night of April 30.

The former senator will crown the Binibining Ugyonan 2012, and lead the awarding ceremony (Gabi ng Parangal) for outstanding teachers both in the elementary and high school, outstanding taxpayers and outstanding Saraviahanons.

This year's 23rd Ugyonan Festival is squeezed into four days, but Lacson said, “There's a lot of fun in this year's Ugyonan.”

The annual festivities will start with a military and civic parade at around 4 p.m. on April 28.

It will be followed by a grand opening salvo at the town's plaza at 5:30 p.m. The SK and ABC activities will follow at the plaza and the Wilkinson Court , respectively.

Other activities are the SK and Employees Fun Run, Hataw sa Plaza, banca race (palumba baroto), at La Rosa del Mar Beach, Puericulture Day – Feeding Program and SBM Nite, all on April 28.

On the 29th, the events are the banca race at La Rosa del Mar Beach Resort, Albee Day, Tagisan ng Talino (Elementary Quiz Bee), DepEd Night, Search for Binibining Ugyonan-Talent Competition, and Celebrity Concert with band from Manila courtesy of Rep. Albee Benitez (Neg. Occ., 3 rd District).

On April 30, there will be a trisikad race, pigstival (dumog baboy), Adlaw sang Kabataan Dance Contest, Gabi ng Parangal , coronation pageant of 2012 Bb. Ugyonan and Coca-Cola Night.

On May 1, the day will start with a concelebrated mass to be officiated by Bacolod Bishop Vicente Navarra.

The Ugyonan street dancing competition, highlight of the fiesta day will be in the afternoon.

Named this year's three Outstanding Saraviahanons are Dr. Romulo Rhoel Mogul, Chief of Hospitals of the Provincial Government; Pastor Reynaldo Julleza of Bethany Baptist Church and Rev. Fr. Felomino Duaban Jr. , Chaplain of Dona Juliana Heights Subdivision Parish, and director of Domus Dei.

Six were also chosen as Outstanding Teachers both in the elementary and secondary levels. They are Lolita Baliguat (Batea Primary School), Delia Gabriel (Jose D. Cuaycong Elementary School and Ardis Gustilo (Nanca Elementary Shool) and Diadema Hinayan and Femelyn Rosareal, both from EB Magalona National High School and Celena Deoful from Tanza National School complete the list in the high school category.

The Municipal Assessor's Office and Municipal Treasurer's office are yet to submit the names of the outstanding tax payers this year.*
