Church wishes to inspire
young people for vocation
BY MARICAR ARANAS

The Roman Catholic Church wishes to inspire more young people to respond to the call for religious vocation as priests and nuns.

Fr. Jesus Dajac, official guardian of the relic of Saint Clare of Assisi and under the Missionaries of Faith from the Holy See, said the presence of young people during the mass celebration in the Diocese of Dumaguete is an inspiration to call for more postulants in religious vocation.

He added that young people are vital in making the church more vibrant. He invited more Roman Catholic people to live by the words of God, and to realize that life is precious and beautiful.

Dajac said he hopes that the recent visit of the relic of Saint Clare of Assisi will inspire more young people to ask for the intercession of the saint, and draw closer to God. He also appreciated the Roman Catholic believers in the diocese, for their strong faith and support to the church.

Saint Clare is the patron saint for embroiderers, eye disease, eyes, goldsmiths and gold workers, good weather, laundry workers, telegraphs, telephones, television and television writers.

The first class relic of Saint Clare of Assisi was brought to the Monastery of Saint Clare in the town of Maria in Siquijor Island, and was later to Saint Catherine of Alexandria Parish in Dumaguete City.

The relic will be brought back to Italy on May 1,2012.

Meanwhile, outgoing Bishop John Du, of the Diocese of Dumaguete, said he hopes that the visit of the relic of Saint Clare of Assisi will serve as inspiration for more believers. He also described the visit of the relic as his inspiration to leave the diocese with confidence that it can stand firm, because of the support from the lay people.

Du also said the visit of the relic of Saint Clare of Assisi is a confirmation of his prayer that the Diocese is stable and can continue in the implementation of some projects and programs.

The prelate has been serving the Diocese of Dumaguete for 10 years and nine months. He will be installed as Archbishop of Palo, Leyte on May 9, 2012.*MA
