The members of the Bangga Totong Fish, Meat, Vegetable, and Ambulant Vendor's Association have appealed to Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia, and the Office of the Ombudsman-Visayas, to investigate five kagawads of Barangay Felisa for allegedly sabotaging the livelihood grants of the hawkers from the Department of Labor and Employment.
Jenelyn Naranja, association president, claimed that kagawads Sanny Barcenal, Milagros Casilagan, Rodrigo Tamayo, Felipe Hilado, and Joel Lavarro, protested the release of livelihood grants worth P318,000 to 65 beneficiaries. They claimed that the approval of the resolution on the grant was “fake”.
In an interview with ABS-CBN, Barcenal said they did not sign the resolution because it was never presented to them, and they had no knowledge of the project proposal, whose proponent was Brgy. Captain Mona Dia Jardin.
“We testify that the resolution is fake and was not discussed during regular sessions,” he said, adding that they are questioning how the resolution was approved.
Jardin told the DAILY STAR that it would be impossible for the kagawads not to know about the project proposal because it was in the minutes of their previous sessions. She said the resolution is legal.
She said the kagawads filed a complaint for falsification of public documents against her before the Ombudsman, which she said she will face.
Naranja also said that if the is released, each association member will receive P5,000 to be used as additional livelihood capital.*LTG
