MANILA - The two vehicles Grace Ibuna, the partner of Rep. Ignacio Arroyo Jr., had earlier reported to be missing will be turned over to the appropriate person tasked to manage his estate, a statement from the Arroyo family said yesterday.
On Friday last week, Ibuna said the two vehicles she and the late congressman had purchased together, that were previously parked at his Santa Clara Executive Village office in Bacolod City, could no longer be located.
Missing are a Toyota Super Grandia white van, and Mitsubishi Strada grey pickup, she said.
She said the last time she used the vehicles was during the wake of the congressman in Hinigaran town in March, and the last person she knows who used them was Ma. Lourdes Arroyo Lesaca, his sister.
Ibuna said she and the congressman purchased the vehicles in 2010 and had been paying for them jointly.
The Arroyo family yesterday issued a statement to clarify matters on the missing vehicles.
"May we state for the record that, as per Land Transportation Office (LTO) and bank records, Ignacio T. Arroyo is the sole registered owner of the said vehicles," it said.
The vehicles shall be turned over to the appropriate person tasked to handle and manage the estate of the late Congressman Arroyo, it added.
“If a party is contesting the same and claims ownership thereof, then they must do so before the proper court of law and prove otherwise what is stated in official government and bank records,” the statement added.
The statement also clarified that it was not the sister of the late Congressman, Marilou Arroyo, who last used the vehicles but rather his eldest daughter, Bianca Arroyo, who attended a mass in behalf of her father in their hometown in Brgy. Payao,*CPG
