Silaynons given fertilizers

Twenty-one farmers were given 13 bags of fertilizers at the Sen. Jose C. Locsin Cultural and Civic Center, yesterday in Silay City, assistant agriculturist Jason Benedicto said in a press release from the city.

Mayor Jose Montelibano initiated the distribution of 39 bags of Urea and 74 bags of T-14, the press release said.

Local farmers from Brgy. Patag, Brgy. Guimbala-on and Barangay Kapitan Ramon are now selling their crops such as fresh lettuce, tomatoes and other green leafy vegetables to several wholesalers from other provinces, the press release said.

It also said that Silay City Agriculture Office ranked 1st in High Value Crop Farming during the Panaad sa Negros 2012 held at the Panaad Park Stadium, in Bacolod City recently.*
