Ibuna: Bank can prove
who paid for vehicles

BY CARLA GOMEZ

Grace Ibuna, the partner of Rep.Ignacio ArroyoJr., yesterday said she will ask the bank to issue a certification that the payment for the two vehicles she had reported missing came from her joint account with the former congressman.

Ibuna pointed out that the payments were auto-debited from her joint BDO account with the congressman.

The congressman died after a long battle with cirrhosis of the liver on January 26.

In a press statement in response to a report quoting Ibuna that the vehicles were missing, the Arroyo family said they were turned over to the appropriate person tasked to manage the congressman’s estate.

“Out of due respect, they should have just told me where the vehicles are or what they intend to do with them,” Ibuna said.

Ibuna said she spoke to the former First Gentleman Mike Arroyo and Dina Arroyo Tantoco, daughter of congressman, and they said they did not know what had happened to the cars, that is why she had it recorded in a police blotter that they were missing.

She asked who among the staff in the former congressional office of Rep. Arroyo had issued the statement for the Arroyo Family since that office had been closed with his death.

Missing are a Toyota Super Grandia white van and a Mitsubishi Strada grey pickup, Ibuna said.

Ibuna said the last time she used the vehicles was during the wake of the congressman in Hinigaran town in March.

Ibuna said she and the congressman purchased the vehicles in 2010 and had been paying for them jointly.

The Arroyo family in their statement, said "May we state for the record that as per Land Transportation Office (LTO) and bank records, Ignacio T. Arroyo is the sole registered owner of the said vehicles".
The vehicles shall be turned over to the appropriate person tasked to handle and manage the estate of the late Congressman Arroyo, it added.

“I am saddened by the thought that if only Iggy were alive, he would not allow this to happen to me. I miss him all the more,” Ibuna said.*CPG
