Delivery truck helper shot
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

Two unidentified armed men shot a helper of softdrink delivery truck yesterday, before robbing at gunpoint its driver-salesman in Hacienda Remedios, Brgy. San Pablo, Manapla, Negros Occidental.

The two suspects, with a .45 caliber pistol and a .38 revolver, divested driver-salesman Ricky Jermina, of about P20,000 in cash collections and a wrist watch.

Senior Inspector Edencio Gregorio, Manapla police chief, yesterday identified the injured victim as Rey Beboso,25, who was hit in the left arm, while Jermina sustained minor injuries, due to broken glass.

Gregorio said the delivery truck was negotiating an uphill climb, when the victims were fired at by the suspects, who later declared a hold-up.

Jermina said the two suspects, who apologized for the incident, told them that the money they got from them, will be used as payment of “bail”.

Three empty shells and three slugs of .45 caliber pistol were recovered by the Manapla police at the crime scene.

Before the incident, the Manapla police had arrested four suspects, two of whom were linked to the series of robbery-hold-up incidents in the town.

Troopers of the 6th Regional Public Safety Battalion also arrested a certain Joebert Bustamante in Brgy. San Pablo, Manapla, who was also linked to a robbery with homicide incident in Brgy. Caduha-an, Cadiz City.

The arrest of Bustamante yielded a.38 caliber revolver with four live ammunition, police said.

Investigations by the Manapla police showed that Bustamante was positively identified by hold-up victims Eduardo Dequito, Christopher Cabadillo and Jimmy Suanico as among the nine persons who had robbed them on April 21 in Hacienda San Juan Toreno, Brgy. Caduha-an, Cadiz City, and shot dead a certain Rejoy Villanueva.* GPB
