Coalition to discuss,
lobby for labor issues

The Negros Coalition for Social Change will hold a labor forum tomorrow to discuss issues faced by workers in the province at the St. Mary Vianney Hall, St. Sebastian Parish, Bacolod City.

Fr. Anecito Buenafe, NCSC chairman said, the forum aims to discuss the impact of the 2015 zero tariff on sugar, wage increase, labor justice, outsourcing and contractualization of labor, and to come up with immediate response to these problems.

“The labor forum theme is Labor Justice for Negros Workers, and we consider this forum as part of taking on the labor issues as one of the major concerns of the coalition,” Buenafe said.

63 companies joining
Labor Day jobs fair

Sixty-three local companies and overseas recruitment agencies will join the jobs fair of the Department of Labor and Employment, Bacolod Public Employment Service Office, and SM City inBacolod City, Moises de la Cruz, said yesterday.

The Labor Day jobs fair are nationally coordinated by the DOLE.

De la Cruz said jobseekers who have pre-registered their applications will be prioritized in the job fair, but those who have not, can still join and pass their applications to the participating companies.

ANP to treat employees with picnic;
Producer-members to operate shops

The Association of Negros Producers is giving a different kind of tribute to its management and staff tomorrow, Labor Day, the press release said.

The staff will go on a company picnic while the producer-members will man the Negros Showroom at Central Citywalk Robinsons Place Bacolod.

The Negros Showroom-Lacson will be closed tomorrow but the branch at Robinsons will be open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
