The Negros Coalition for Social Change will hold a labor forum tomorrow to discuss issues faced by workers in the province at the St. Mary Vianney Hall, St. Sebastian Parish, Bacolod City.
Fr. Anecito Buenafe, NCSC chairman said, the forum aims to discuss the impact of the 2015 zero tariff on sugar, wage increase, labor justice, outsourcing and contractualization of labor, and to come up with immediate response to these problems.
“The labor forum theme is Labor Justice for Negros Workers, and we consider this forum as part of taking on the labor issues as one of the major concerns of the coalition,” Buenafe said.
NCSC is a coalition of various civil society organizations, non-government and people’s organizations, social movements, political formations and progressive and concerned citizens that aspire for real social reforms and transformation in Negros and in the country, he said.
The group also seeks to act as a coordinating body that will synergize and leverage various advocacies, Buenafe said.
NCSC is composed of task forces that focus on agrarian reform, sustainable agriculture, rural development good governance, power and energy, urban poverty and reform, environment, labor, peace, and human rights. *LTG
