Fixed Buglasan
fest venue eyed

BY MARICAR ARANAS

Gov. Roel Degamo has ordered the Negros Oriental Tourism Council and the Negros Oriental Investment Promotion Council to conduct a study on the proposed fixed venue for the Buglasan Festival celebration.

This was after suggestions were received by the Capitol to fix the venue for the festival activities, either at the Freedom Park or the Capitol grounds. The Freedom Park was suggested mainly because it has more space and can be easily accessed by spectators.

The NOTC and NOIPC must study the proposal and consider other factors before the provincial government can decide on the fixed venue, Degamo said.

The Buglasan Festival was originally held at the Freedom Park and the Capitol grounds the terms of during then governor, and now 2nd District Rep. George Arnaiz. The venue was later transferred to the Sidlakang Negros Village, when the late Gov. Emilio Macias II assumed office.

Degamo is also asking the media to help the province determe the pulse of the public on the venue. The festival, which will be held October 12 to 21.

The NOTC, meanwhile, has been asked to include in its study the feasible use for the SNV, so it will not become a white elephant.*MA
