Negros athletes leave
for Pangasinan

Most of the athletes and officials representing the Western Visayas region left for Manila yesterday, a week before the opening of the 2012 Palarong Pambansa set on May 6 – 12 in Lingayen, Pangasinan.

With the contingent are the 232 athletes, 47 coaches and chaperones, 35 trainors, and 21 delegation officials from Negros Occidental.

Except for the elementary basketball boys’ squad, who left ahead for a series of tune up games in Manila, all teams that will compete under the banner of Region VI sailed off yesterday on board the Negros Navigation M/V St. Michael, Negros Occidental DepEd Provincial Sports head Romeo Sison said.

BBC sweeps eliminations

Undefeated in the elimination round, tournament leader Bacolod Basketball Club/Amazing ’09 easily advanced to the semifinals of the 4th USLS/LNA7 Basketball Tournament as it won by default its last game against Batch 1994/1995/2001/Strollers at the West Negros University Gym, Friday night.

Quarterfinals will start this Friday.

While BBC had an easy time booking a seat in the semifinals, Batch 2003/2004/Martha fell on the wayside and absorbed a stinging 89-100 loss at the hands of Batch 2007/2010, forcing a rubber match against Batch 2008/Shakey’s tonight.

Talk n Text ties PBA series

Talk N Text’s Pamboy Raymundo and B-Meg’s Joe Devance were ejected from the game, while coach Tim Cone slipped and fell at the sideline then walk out of the court with still close to a minute left in the game.

All these in the span of 1:47 seconds as Tropang Texters got away with a 100-85 Game 4 win last night in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup best-of-seven series at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

It was the kind of game TNT coach Chot Reyes had been demanding from his team after yielding Game 3 to B-Meg.
