Free driving assessment
set for bus, truck drivers

The Technical Education Skills Development Authority in Negros Occidental will conduct free driving assessments of all public bus drivers on Aug. 20-31 and Oct. 15-26, TESDA provincial director Lorena Yunque, said yesterday.

Yunque said this is in line with the Department Order No 201-25 of the Department of Transportation and Commissions, Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board, and TESDA that by January 1, 2013, all bus and straight truck drivers must be holders of a National Certificate for Driving NC III.

Non-NC III holders are not allowed to have their driver's license renewed or issued, she said.

She also encourage operators to arrange the assessment schedule for their drivers as it will be on a first come-first-serve basis while other schedules may be arranged by operators on a cost sharing–drive-your-own-bus assessment.

For the schedule, drivers can call Beveryl Insular of TEDSA at 495-6621, 495-6622 or 712-7175 or email them at tesdaneg6@yahoo.com for reservation. *LTG
