The guessing game on who will be the new regional police director of Western Visayas is over.
PNP chief Nicanor Bartolome has named Chief Supt. Agrimero Cruz as the successor of Chief Supt. Cipriano Querol as the new police director of Region 6.
Senior Supt. Allan Guisihan, chief of the directorial staff of the Police Regional Office 6, however, said yesterday that the date of the PRO6 change of command has not been set yet.
Guisihan also said that Querol was designated as director of the Special Action Force, an elite counter-terrorism unit of the Philippine National Police.
Cruz, a member of the Philippine Military Academy Class 1982, used to be the PNP spokesman. He is presently the chief of the Police Community Relations Group.
Cruz bested his two PMA upper classmen, Chief Supt. Gil Hitosis and Catalino Rodriguez, for the position of PRO6 director.
His designation as PRO6 director was approved by President Benigno Aquino III, on the recommendation of the PNP Senior Officers Placement and Promotion Board and Napolcom chairman, Jesse Robredo.* GPB
